The Institute of Genomics & Integrative Biology (IGIB) is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), established in 2002 with a mandate to conduct high-quality research in genomics and integrative biology.

National Genomic Core Facility

The National Genomic Core Facility (NGCF) at IGIB serves as a national resource for genomic technologies, providing services to researchers across India and South Asia. Established in 2010, NGCF has processed over 50,000 samples for sequencing and genomic analysis.

Our facility offers end-to-end solutions from sample preparation, quality control, library preparation, sequencing, and primary data analysis. We support diverse applications including whole genome sequencing, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, single-cell sequencing, and metagenomics.

Whole genome sequencing of 10,000 Indian individuals reveals novel population-specific variants associated with metabolic disorders

This landmark study presents the largest whole-genome sequencing dataset from the Indian population, identifying 12 million novel variants and establishing population-specific genetic associations with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease risk.

Single-cell transcriptomic atlas of human lung development identifies progenitor cells and pathways disrupted in pulmonary fibrosis

Using single-cell RNA sequencing of developing and diseased human lungs, researchers identified a novel progenitor cell population that is depleted in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, providing new therapeutic targets for this fatal disease.
